Evie Hickman – President

Evie found her passion for horses later in life, when she joined her granddaughter in riding lessons in Georgia. Upon returning home to Maryland, she was able to further that love for horses at her family farm.  Evie is an RN and a  former paramedic, and believes that ERA is a natural extension of her experiences as a volunteer firefighter and paramedic. Evie enjoys riding her OTTB, Golden Stride. Evie is active with EHHC Pony Club, providing medical coverage for many of their events. She is looking forward to further training with ERA and promoting and growing this organization. Evie is an active volunteer with the Maryland Horse Council.

Peggy Maher – Vice President

Peggy has been associated with horses all her life, having worked and ridden nationally and internationally for several trainers of various disciplines. From hunters and jumpers, racing and fox hunting, to polo and three-day eventing, she has ridden with and worked for Mikey Smithwick, Jack Stedding, Tommy Serio, Streett Moore, Joe Fargis, Conrad Homfeld, Peter Leone, Buddy Brown, Grant Schneidman and many other reputable horsemen.  Only recently regaining her amateur status, Peggy continues to train and show jumpers and hunters both locally and nationally.  She has been an ERA member since it’s first year.  Peggy has also completed her Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue training program and is a member of the Maryland Emergency Response Team.  She now lives in Monkton with her husband, Ron and two sons, Trip and Jack.

Jessica Connors- Secretary

Jessica has been riding horses and ponies since she was 2 years old.  She is a graduate ‘B’ from Pony Club and competed in hunters/jumpers, dressage, eventing, games and polocrosse.  She is still active with EHHPC by teaching clinics to the younger members.  Jessica was also a volunteer Firefighter/EMT for 10 years.  Besides her day job of working for Baltimore County Government, her life involves her Bernese mountain dog, Wyatt.  Through pony club, President Evie Hickman recruited her to join ERA.  She is very interested in continuing her training with ERA and promoting this organization.

Kristin Wenderoth– Treasurer

Kristin has been riding and involved with horses since she was 7.  She has ridden for local trainers/owners and has spent many years showing hunters primarily, but also foxhunting, eventing and showing jumpers. She has taught riding lessons over the years, including coaching the Elkridge Harford Hunt Pony Club to many show jumping successes and championships.  Kristin has been a volunteer with the ERA since 2005 and completed her Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue training.  She has been working as an occupational therapist for 25 years, currently at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center. Kristin resides with her husband in Upperco, Maryland and enjoys showing in the Adult Amateur jumpers.
